Kristina Walsh is an artist working across design, sculpture, and moving image based in London, UK.

Kristina’s work is characterized by sensual forms and an otherworldly aesthetic, and underpinned with research into psychology and social theories. Her narrative-based and critically researched approach engineers new experiences that call for emotional introspection and physical exploration.

Kristina’s internationally exhibited work spans sculpture, film, and design - including footwear, jewellery, and prosthetics. Her sculptural style considers not only artistic and functional points of view, but notably the emotional effects of design. Ultimately, by creating in physical and digital spheres, Kristina’s work seeks to cultivate new relationships with others and ourselves.

Biography

Born and raised in the Chicago-land area, Kristina was an athlete and studied Psychology and Art History at the University of Minnesota (US), before connecting movement and the mechanics of the mind to design during her studies on the MA Footwear course at the London College of Fashion (UK). Her Masters collection, which redefined footwear to include body accessories and prosthetics, won the Jimmy Choo Award. Soon after, her multidisciplinary work caught the attention of Sarabande: The Lee Alexander McQueen Foundation, where she was awarded a two-year residency. Kristina’s evolving interests motivate her to implement fine art, movement, craft-based techniques, and digital technology from a wide variety of disciplines into her work.
